We try to deal with each child on an individual basis. When disciplining a child, we try to do it in a manner that is respectful of their feelings as an individual. Positive reinforcement is always our first choice.
If after repeated misbehavior occurs, these are the steps we follow:
- Inappropriate behavior will be noted and the child will receive a verbal reprimand in a stern tone of voice.
- We will explain to the child why their behavior was unacceptable and try to redirect the child.
- In the event the child continues to display disruptive or cruel behavior, they will be asked to sit quietly for up to two minutes.
- If this type of behavior continues over a long period of time, the problems will be discussed with the parents in order to find a solution.
Corporal punishment will NOT be used as a punishment in this facility. Parental intervention may be necessary under certain circumstances.
