Discipline I try to deal with each child on an individual basis. When disciplining a child, I try to do it in a manner, which is respectful of his/her feelings as an individual. Positive reinforcement is always my first choice. If after repeated misbehavior occurs, these are the steps I follow: • Inappropriate behavior will be noted and the child will receive a verbal reprimand in a stern tone of voice. • I will explain to the child why his/her behavior was unacceptable and try to redirect the child. • In the event the child continues to display disruptive or cruel behavior he/she will be asked to sit quietly for up to two minutes. If this type of behavior continues over a long period of time, the problems will be discussed with the parents in order to find a solution. Corporal punishment will NOT be used as a punishment in this facility. Parental intervention may be necessary under certain circumstances. |
